Vaping Hardware FAQ: Key Tips & Solutions

  1. Why Are My Vape Coils Burning Out So Fast?
Coils can burn out prematurely due to several factors. Commonly, this happens if the coil isn’t fully saturated with vape juice before use. Always prime your coils carefully to ensure they absorb e-liquid before firing up. Another cause is operating your device at too high a wattage. Most coils, including those for the Vaporesso Xros Mini, Voopoo Argus G2, and Aspire Flexus Stik, have a recommended wattage range printed on the side. Staying within this range will help your coils last longer. Additionally, chain vaping can prevent the coil from re-saturating with e-liquid, leading to a burnt taste.

  2. Can All Coils Fit Any Tank?
No, coils aren’t universally compatible across tanks. Each vape tank is designed with specific coils in mind due to variations in size, threading, and wattage requirements. For instance, Voopoo PnP coils won't fit Vaporesso tanks. Always check your tank’s compatibility when purchasing coils, especially if you’re using specialised products like the Lost Mary 4 in 1 or Vaporesso Luxe Q2.

  3. What Defines a Sub-Ohm Tank?
Sub-ohm tanks typically have coils with a resistance below 1 ohm (Ω), often around 0.5Ω or less. They’re popular for producing large vapour clouds and are used in devices from brands like Smok and Vaporesso. If you prefer dense vapour, consider a sub-ohm tank, but be mindful that sub-ohm setups consume more vape liquid than higher-resistance coils.

  4. How Often Should I Change My Coil?
It’s generally recommended to replace your coil every 1 to 3 weeks, depending on your vaping habits. A noticeable drop in flavour or a burnt taste indicates it’s time for a change. This applies across brands like Innokin and Aspire PockeX, which all offer a variety of coil options for different preferences.

  5. Why Does My Coil Taste Burnt?
A burnt taste often means the cotton in the coil hasn’t been adequately saturated, which causes it to burn when heated. Replace the coil immediately if you notice this. Proper priming and allowing the coil to soak before use can prevent this issue in devices like the Caliburn A2 and the Oxva Xlim.

  6. How Can I Prevent My Tank from Leaking?
Leaking often occurs when the coil becomes oversaturated with e-liquid, resulting in flooding. Clear any excess liquid, then increase your wattage by 5–10 watts temporarily to vaporise the excess. If leaking persists, the coil may be deteriorating and should be replaced. This tip is applicable across various tanks, including Voopoo Drag S and Aspire Nautilus.

  7. What’s the Difference Between Voltage and Wattage?
Voltage refers to the power supplied by the battery, while wattage measures the power output directed to the coil. Devices like the Voopoo Argus P1 and Vaporesso Armour Max allow you to adjust these settings for a personalized vaping experience.

  8. Why Are Batteries Wrapped in Plastic?
The plastic wrap around batteries, such as 18650 and 21700 batteries, acts as insulation to protect against short circuits. If you notice any tears or damage in this wrap, replace the battery to prevent hazards. Brands like Vaporesso and GeekVape emphasize safe battery use in their kits.

  9. Is it Safe to Charge My Vape Overnight?
To minimize risks, charge your device while you’re awake and can monitor it. Leaving devices like the Lost Mary BM6000 or Aspire Gotek unattended while charging could lead to overheating and battery damage.

  10. What Does mAh Mean on a Battery?
mAh stands for milliampere-hour, indicating the battery’s charge capacity. For instance, a 2000mAh battery, like those used in Smok Nord 5 and GeekVape devices, will last longer than a 1000mAh one,  allowing for extended vaping sessions without frequent recharging.

For any vaping needs, whether coils, tanks, like Aspire K3 or TECC CS Micro these insights will help you maintain your hardware and optimise your experience. Always refer to your specific device’s guidelines for the best results!
